Science Space

Science Space was the inaugural building built on the Innovation Campus back in 2000, when their original building the Science Centre and Planetarium was destroyed in the 1998 flash flooding. The centre was originally established by Glen Moore in 1989 along with a team of enthusiastic volunteers wanting to introduce the Illawarra region to the wonderful world of astronomy. With Science Space offering state-of-the-art technology in an educational environment, the building brings  an interactive and immersive scientific experience to the local region.

Boasting NSW’s most digitally advanced planetarium, DIGISTAR 6, Science Space is at the cutting edge. Science Space is also home to the Illawarra’s very first indoor starlight cinema experience, the SciFri Cinema.

Founded upon the principles of education, hands-on learning and accessibility for all age, Science Space exists to advocate the value of science and technology and increase general science literacy in the Illawarra region. The building houses over 90 interactive exhibits, science shows and workshops.
