The Innovation Campus combines a prime coastal location with excellent connectivity. Situated just minutes from Wollongong's CBD the campus is easily accessible by car, public transport and bike paths. We're conveniently located just 80km south of Sydney and 250km from Canberra, making us an ideal hub for collaboration and innovation. Public transport

Bus

The free Gong Shuttle service operates on a loop that connects the Innovation Campus with UOW main campus, Wollongong Hospital, Wollongong railway station, the city centre, Fairy Meadow railway station and the TAFE Campus. Buses travel in both directions on the loop.

Train

The Innovation Campus is located between North Wollongong and Fairy Meadow railway stations. Fairy Meadow station is approximately a 15 minute walk from the campus. The free Gong Shuttle stops near Fairy Meadow station.

Parking & bike facilities

Innovation Campus offers a range of parking and end-of trip bike facilities. 

Short-term parking

The University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus offers convenient short-term parking for visitors in the P1 carpark. This carpark is located on the southern side of the Science Space and indicated on the Innovation Campus maps.

If travelling along Squires Way enter the Innovation Campus via Puckey Avenue and take the first driveway on the right indicated with a large blue ‘P’ sign.

If travelling along Montague Street enter the Campus via Puckey Avenue, over the bridge. Travel through the first intersection and head towards the ocean, take the next driveway on your left indicated with a large blue ‘P’ sign.

Paying for parking: CelloPark App

Payment is made through the CellOPark app. When you park in the P1, ensure you open the CellOPark app, and start your session. 

  • press the ‘Scan QR’ button in the app and scan the QR code located on signs, or 
  • select University of Wollongong from the drop down menu, or 
  • enter the seven digit zone number 2522600.  

You can have up to two vehicles registered on your account, but you need to ensure you have selected the ‘active’ vehicle when parking. Press ‘press to start’ when you are ready to start your parking session. When you have finished your parking session, you need to press ‘press to stop’.   

With CellOPark, you only pay for what you use, as long as you stop your session as you leave.

P1 parking rates

The P1 Carpark operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:30pm (excluding public holidays). Parking on weekends is free. Prices include GST.

Motorcycle parking

Motorcycle parking is available on the Innovation Campus in motorcycle bays only; these are located in P1, P5, P7 & P8 carparks.

Payments for casual motorcycle parking are managed via the CellOPark app.

Motorcycle riders are eligible to apply for UOW permit parking.

Mobility parking

Parking is free on campus for Mobility Parking Scheme Permit holders. These permits are issued by Roads and Maritime Services and must be displayed clearly on the vehicle.

Mobility permit holders are authorised to access dedicated mobility parking bays, UOW Entry permit bays and ticket bays, free of charge. Permit holders are also able to use the Public Parking Station (P1).

Only Australian mobility permit holders who display a current/valid permit may access dedicated mobility parking bays. These conditions apply 24 hours, seven days a week. Penalties apply for improper use of mobility parking bays.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations

EV charging stations are located at:

  • Sustainable Building Research Centre (SBRC): A 180kW Ingeteam charger connected to the Chargefox network. Available for public use.
  • P1 Carpark (close to Science Space): Two 22kW chargers are currently being installed and are expected to be complete in early 2025.

Parking is only permitted in the charging spaces while the vehicle is actively charging. Once charging is complete, the vehicle must be moved from the Electric Vehicle charging parking bays. Fines may be issued to those who park in the designated spaces when not charging their vehicle, or when not using an electric vehicle.

Permit and reserved parking

Parking permits are available via UOW's online parking permit management system (vPermit). Permits are available to:

  • Staff
  • Commercial tenants
  • Higher Degree Research candidates
  • Contractors
  • Motorcycle riders

Bike facilities

Enjoy seamless access to Innovation Campus via Wollongong's extensive cycleway network, with convenient end-of-trip facilities, ample bicycle racks, and on-site maintenance stations.

Bike maintenance stations

Innovation Campus has two bike maintenance stations. One is located in the underground carpark bike base below the Enterprise 1 building, and the other is located in the Western Forecourt of The Central. 

Bike bases

Bike bases are secure, undercover and CCTV-monitored bicycle storage rooms. In a bike base, you can lock up your bike and access end-of-trip facilities such as lockers, toilets and showers.

  • Enterprise 1 (Building 234)
  • SBRC (Building 237)
  • iAccelerate (Building 239)

Apply for access

Bike Bases are free to use for staff and students, you just need a UOW access card. If you don't yet have an access card a one time payment of $25 is required.

Complete the Bike Base Application Form to:

  1. add a bike base or change access to a bike base on an existing access card (no payment required) OR
  2. purchase an access card and apply to access a bike base (online payment of $25 is required).

Please note that while the University cannot accept responsibility for items lost or stolen from the bike bases, there are CCTV cameras in place, and card access to the rooms can be traced to the cardholder. UOW recommends that you lock up your bike and do not leave other valuables in the bike base. Please report any incidents immediately to UOW Security.
