World-class facilities for global impact

The Central

The Central is the heart of the Innovation Campus, a vibrant hub with a cafe, gym, and meeting and event spaces. Its light-filled atrium and stunning views create an ideal environment for work, study, and social connection.

Enterprise 1

Enterprise 1 is a showcase of innovative design and sustainable practices. This $40 million facility features a five-star NABERS rating and incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as automatic sun-tracking louvres to optimise energy efficiency. Enterprise 1 provides 10,000 square metres of premium office space for leading national and international corporations and research institutes.

iAccelerate

iAccelerate is the region’s first purpose-built business incubator and accelerator. Opened in 2016, the dynamic facility features expandable spaces for collaboration and business growth and incorporates local products that pay homage to the Illawarra region. iAccelerate supports startups, scaleups, social enterprises, and intrapreneurs with education, mentoring, funding, and access to UOW's world-class resources driving regional innovation and economic growth.

Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC)

The Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) is a world-leading facility addressing the challenges of sustainable living and working spaces. The building generates more power than it consumes, distributes excess water, and features natural ventilation, passive conditioning, renewable energy testing, and a Green IT system for monitoring sustainability metrics. It also includes a grey water treatment system and permaculture gardens supporting native flora.

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM)

The Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM) is a purpose-built facility designed to help transform multi-functional materials research into commercial reality. UOW is at the forefront of materials innovation where research meets prototyping and commercalisation. The multi-disciplinary focus of the Institute brings together biologists, clinicians, chemists, physicists engineers and materials scientists.

UOW Science Space

UOW Science Space, is New South Wales' only dedicated immersive science experience, making science and technology accessible to visitors of all ages. Founded on principles of hands-on learning and education, Science Space features over 90 interactive exhibits, live science shows, workshops, and the most digitally advanced planetarium in NSW. A new Energy Futures Zone is slated to open in late 2025.

Mike Codd Building

The Mike Codd Building, is a key hub for innovation at the Innovation Campus. Home to the Digital Media Centre, it provides unparalleled access to expertise in business, management, technology, and the arts. This state-of-the-art building also houses the Australasian Health Outcomes Consortium and campus security.

ITAMS

ITAMS is home to the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources & Security (ANCORS), a leading provider of specialised research, advisory services, education, and training in ocean law, policy, maritime security, and marine resource management. Renowned for its authoritative policy advice, ANCORS supports government agencies in Australia, the Indo-Pacific, and globally.

Kids' Uni IC

Kids Uni iC, situated in a unique heritage Nissan hut, offers quality, inclusive education and care for children aged two to six, recognising play as essential to lifelong learning. The amazing indoor and outdoor learning environments are designed to support all aspects of development and and cultivate a strong sense of belonging.

Fairy Meadow Ambulance Station

The Fairy Meadow Ambulance Station is a modern facility featuring parking bays, office areas, staff facilities, and a gym. It includes a solar energy system with battery storage for backup power. This station is part of the NSW Government's $232 million RAIR program, enhancing regional emergency services.
