About Innovation Campus

The University of Wollongong's Innovation Campus is an internationally recognised, award-winning research, development, and business precinct. Established in 2006, the campus was designed to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and the community, driving innovation and economic growth in the Illawarra region and beyond.

More than a business park

The Innovation Campus is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and real-world applications. By co-locating research facilities with commercial enterprises, we create an ecosystem where ideas flourish, businesses grow, and solutions to global challenges are developed.

The campus is home to state-of-the-art facilities that support cutting-edge research and business ventures. It has become a hub for advancements in fields such as intelligent materials, sustainable building design, energy efficiency, maritime law and security, and health services innovation.

Location

Nestled on the stunning NSW South Coast, Innovation Campus offers a prime coastal location for collaboration. Just 80km south of Sydney – Australia's leading financial hub – and 250km from Canberra, we provide unparalleled access to key markets and government centres.

A legacy of transformation

The Innovation Campus occupies a site steeped in history – once home to migrant hostels and Brandon Park, the former ground of the Wollongong Wolves FC. Since its transformation into a research precinct, it has played a pivotal role in transitioning Wollongong from a manufacturing-based economy to a globally recognised innovation hub.
