The University of Wollongong Gets Piccolo’d
The University of Wollongong has been Piccolo’d. Beloved speciality coffee shop, Piccolo Me, has opened its newest location on the Innovation Campus at UOW. This location is the fifteenth for brothers Roy and Charlie Hachem, founders of Piccolo Me, and its opening has been highly anticipated.
“We are so proud of this store. It’s been a labour of love to get it open. At 400 square metres, this is our largest store yet and the first to serve a range of beer, wine and cocktails. It also boasts a full kitchen so we can offer a larger menu and continue to surprise and delight customers with our chef’s creations,” Charlie explains.
Roy and Charlie Hachem founded Piccolo Me in 2012. The name Piccolo Me was inspired from Roy and Charlie’s coffee of choice, Piccolo Latte, and the size of their first store being small. They set out to develop a brand that was young at heart and strong on traditions, playing on the strength of emotional connections and childhood favourites.
“We don’t follow trends,” Roy says. “Our menu is a mix of things you won’t be able to find at any other cafe. We are all about pushing the boundaries, creating twists on childhood favourites and making your meal fun.”
Piccolo Me will appeal to the serious coffee lovers just as much as it does to those who delight in its creative concoctions. Only highly trained baristas are used to serve coffee which is made from Fair Trade Certified Organic coffee beans.
“We are so excited to be part of the Innovation Campus family. It provides the perfect community feel that we’ve been looking for and that resonates with our brand. Everything about this location makes me joyful,” adds Charlie.
Piccolo Me is open Monday through Friday from 7AM to 4.30PM inside The Central on Innovation Campus. In addition to serving up signature sweet creations, there’s also a range of sandwiches, salads and savoury options available. Piccolo Me is available for catering and special functions and has beer and wine available.
